Los Angeles Unified School District's Request for Qualifications For Solar Photovoltaic Systems Installation
The Los Angeles Unified School District ("LAUSD"), the nations largest school district in terms of property owned, seeks to save money, ensure energy reliability, and mitigate its impact on the environment through the use of on-site generation from renewable resources. LAUSD intends to install 50 MW of on-site renewable energy by 2012, a vast majority of which will be achieved through solar PV systems. Pursuant to its September 16, 2009, Request for Qualifications ("RFQ"), LAUSD is soliciting submittals for prequalification from providers and vendors for the design, acquisition, installation, commissioning, operations, maintenance and repair of solar photovoltaic ("PV") systems at selected LAUSD sites. Proposers who are prequalified by LAUSD will be added to the list of existing prequalified providers and vendors and be eligible to submit for subsequent requests for proposals (RFPs) for solar PV installations. A typical LAUSD qualified school site will have sufficient space for approximately 200 kW. Selected providers and vendors will be provided the specific scope of work and additional information for specific project sites through subsequent RFP solicitations. Such RFPs will also define LAUSD's intent regarding financing terms and buy-out options for each specific project site, such as purchase and ownership of the solar PV systems, Power Purchase Agreements, Tax Exempt Municipal Leasing, or self-finance.
Issuance of RFQ: September 16, 2009
