Allen Matkins represents buyers of debt owed to, and assets owned by financially distressed companies. We also represent clients in other business transactions with distressed companies, such as whole business acquisitions and other business combinations.
We specialize in representing buyers and sellers of commercial real estate loans, especially buyers of large portfolios of nonperforming loans.
We provide noteholders with business and legal counsel and representation in a range of contexts:
- Business and other practical concerns in a workout or foreclosure
- Strategic and tactical assistance regarding the exit strategy of an asset (including prompt resale, long-term hold of the debt, acquisition of the underlying collateral and disposition or development of the property)
- Loan portfolio management, especially in dealing with a large number of loans (we are experts at making quick initial assessments, and we can transition quickly into matters that may already have deadlines and provide standardized reporting as the work progresses)
- Legal issues such as deeds-in-lieu of foreclosure, non-judicial foreclosures, judicial receiverships and other litigation
