Williamson Act
The Williamson Act sets forth provisions whereby landowners within locally designated agricultural preserves may voluntarily place restrictions on agricultural lands in exchange for tax reductions and other incentives. The disposition of a Williamson Act contract can be a major component in the development process.
Allen Matkins attorneys advise clients in development projects involving Williamson Act preserves and contracts. We also advise in all aspects of the contract termination process, particularly contract cancellations. In addition, we have a very useful familiarity with the state Department of Conservation, which enforces the Williamson Act, and even the original drafters of the act.
