Allen Matkins represents owners of multi-family housing portfolios regionally and nationally. We represent these clients in all aspects of zoning and land use, acquisition, financing, public subsidy, regulatory matters and fair housing. With respect to subsidized multi-family housing portfolios, we have worked with clients to analyze the effects of expiring subsidies, evaluate the available options to restructure the subsidy/financing and work with various subsidy and financing sources to implement the restructuring plans.
Condominium Practice
Allen Matkins' attorneys have handled condominium projects of every shape and size throughout the United States, with considerable depth in California. We primarily represent developers in condominium projects, but we also assist investment funds, joint ventures, lenders, brokers, wineries, individuals, and hotels in their investment in and development of these projects. Our attorneys have experience with timeshares, condominium conversions, hotel to condominium conversions, condominium hotels, and traditional condominium projects. We also regularly handle ski, golf, and spa resort projects, along with matters involving acquisitions of open space or the redevelopment of existing property. Condominium projects are often part of a mixed-use development, requiring a team of attorneys well versed in dealing with multiple parties with united and diverging interests. Our vast condominium experience allows us to see projects from all angles and strategically negotiate with these parties, always keeping our client’s best interests in mind. California Department of Real Estate
In order to place condominium units on the market, the developer must go through the DRE approval process. We have significant experience in developing project-wide covenants, conditions, and restrictions for planned communities including condominiums. We work with clients to create comprehensive development documentation to ensure architectural consistency and to streamline project administration. Our "Master Management Documentation" has been pre-approved by the DRE. Our close work with clients, title companies, engineers, DRE processors, and budget consultants to create project CC&Rs ensures prompt DRE approval and helps coordinate diverse project components with comprehensive development standards.
