Attorney and Lobbyist for Building Industry Association Joins
Firm
SAN DIEGO – Jan. 14, 2008 – Allen
Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis LLP, a leading California
business and real estate law firm, announces the addition of Jerry
Livingston, former attorney and lobbyist for the Building Industry
Association, as an attorney in the firm's San Diego office.
Livingston
joins Allen Matkins' real
estate and land
use, water
rights and resources, and legislative lobbying groups. He brings
experience monitoring and influencing legislation affecting the
residential and commercial development community.
"Success
in helping developer clients achieve their goals depends on strong
relationships with the building industry and government," said
Livingston. "I look forward to joining the team at Allen Matkins,
as they're known for facilitating important relationships in the
community and for being deal makers – not just lawyers."
"Jerry's
strength is helping developer clients successfully navigate the
detailed – often convoluted – process of public policy,"
said Joe
Davidson, office operating partner for the firm's San
Diego office. "He brings a wealth of experience in carrying
the building industry's messages to elected officials including
city councils, planning commissions, County Boards of Supervisors
and special district boards."
Livingston served as staff counsel for governmental affairs for
the Building Industry Association
of San Diego County for 11 years, where his responsibilities
included managing the association's litigation, as well as tracking
federal, state, regional and local land use and environmental issues
that affect the building industry. He was the BIA representative
to multiple advisory groups, such as the City of San Diego Water
Department Citizens Advisory Committee, Multiple Habitat Conservation
Program Advisory Committee, Escondido Transportation Advisory Committee,
City of San Diego Technical Advisory Committee and Oceanside Affordable
Housing Task Force.
He joined the BIA following a decade of service to the County of
San Diego. Livingston served as Director of Governmental Affairs
for the San Diego chapter of the National Association of Industrial
and Office Properties from 2002 to 2007.
Livingston received bachelor's and juris doctorate degrees from
Western State University College of Law.
