Josi Kennon Swonetz is a senior counsel in the San Diego office of Allen Matkins.  Josi represents and defends employers in matters including, but not limited to, wrongful termination, race, gender, age, and disability discrimination, harassment, and retaliation; advises clients on issues related to the American Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the California Family Rights Act, California Sick Leave Law, the Fair Labor Standards Act; Title VII, and joint employer liability, and represents clients in administrative hearings in front of the California Department of Labor.

Josi also has experience in handling complex litigation matters, including real estate, corporate, probate, and trust disputes.

Josi's litigation experience includes all aspects of civil litigation, including motion practice, depositions, discovery, court hearings, trial preparation, arbitration preparation, mediation, and discovery. She has successfully argued demurrers, motions to dismiss, and ex parte motions.

Before joining Allen Matkins, she was an associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, LLP.

Josi received her J.D. from the USC Gould School of Law. While in law school, she served as notes editor for the Southern California Interdisciplinary Law Journal, worked for the Post-Conviction Justice Project, was academic co-chair for the Black Law Student's Association, and was mentorship co-chair for the Women's Law Association. She also worked as a judicial extern for Judge Peter Busch and Judge Ronald Quidachay of the Superior Court of California. She received her B.A., cum laude, in theater arts and her B.S., cum laude, in political science from Santa Clara University.
