Allen Matkins Ranked Number One Real Estate Law Firm in California by Chambers & Partners; Construction, Environmental, and Labor and Employment Practices Named Among Best in California

Press Release

6.18.12

LOS ANGELES - June 18, 2012 - Chambers & Partners has released its rankings of the premier law firms in the U.S. and, for the eleventh consecutive year, Allen Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis LLP is ranked in the number one tier of real estate law firms in California. Chambers & Partners also recognized the firm's Construction, Labor and Employment, and Environment practices as among the best in California.

Allen Matkins attorneys were also individually recognized by the publication - in Real Estate: Michael Matkins, Richard Mallory, Tony Natsis; in Construction: Raymond Buddie; in Banking & Finance: Pauline Stevens; in Environment: David Cooke and Robert Wyatt; and in Labor & Employment: Dwight Armstrong.

Through interviews with peers, significant purchasers of legal services, and competing law firms, London-based Chambers & Partners rates business lawyers at U.S. law firms by state within a selected set of key practice areas, assessing the attorneys' and firm's legal abilities, professional conduct, client service, commercial astuteness, diligence, commitment, and other qualities most valued by clients.

Despite the recent recession, the last fiscal year (FY2011) was the second most profitable year in Allen Matkins' history. The firm's strategic plan calls for the expansion of its core real estate-related practices and complementary practices, including environmental, land use and finance, along with related litigation, in order to increase its market share and build on the high value and reputation of Allen Matkins in the real estate industry.

Allen Matkins takes a leadership role in the real estate markets that it serves and produces many research and market intelligence reports. For five years the firm, in partnership with UCLA, has produced the "Allen Matkins / UCLA Anderson Forecast Commercial Real Estate Survey and Index" to better predict future California commercial real estate trends. The survey questions supply-side participants - commercial developers and financiers of commercial development - for insights into their markets.
