Every spring, members of the legal community across California compete in the annual Food From the Bar drive which support local food banks. Teams are awarded points per dollar donated, pound of food collected and volunteer shift completed and winners are declared. But the real winners are the thousands of families who benefit from the food drive. It is by far the largest organized program by a profession to help food banks. This year, the campaign in San Francisco raised more than $560,000, collected nearly 10,000 pounds of food and contributed 2,500 hours of labor. The campaign in Los Angeles raised more than $458,000, collected more than 17,000 pounds of food and contributed 2,100 volunteer hours. In San Diego, volunteers raised more than $30,000, collected more than 3,140 pounds of food and contributed 237 volunteer hours.
