EXPERIENCE

  • Represented oil company in civil penalty and injunctive relief action filed by the United States and the State of California. Action alleges client, which owns and operates oil production fields, discharged oil in violation of the federal Clean Water Act, California Water Code, and California Fish and Game Code. 
  • Represented oil company in preparation of environmental review documents under CEQA for refinery expansion projects in Northern and Southern California, including addressing climate change issues raised in EIR and in administrative challenges by the state Attorney General and public interest organizations. 
  • Represented major oil refining and marketing company in negotiations regarding enforcement of environmental rights and duties under agreement by which client acquired approximately 750 facilities, including refineries, pipelines, bulk storage facilities, pump stations, and retail gasoline stations. 
  • Represented a major oil company in the alleged contamination of a northwestern river for its entire 15 mile course. 
  • Represented oil and gas company in administrative civil liability complaint arising out of beneficial reuse of crude oil impacted soils.
