John Jefferson

Partner

Based in the Los Angeles office, John serves a range of clients in complex real estate transactions, including representing clients in acquisitions, dispositions, development projects, joint ventures, and secured financings. John prides himself on his ability to close deals efficiently by identifying, assessing, and addressing gating items and the material business issues involved in each particular deal.

In his practice, John has represented both purchasers and sellers in acquisitions and sales of various types of commercial real estate, including hotels, industrial properties, medical centers, retail centers, apartment buildings, office complexes, and mixed-use properties. John has a broad range of experience in the hospitality industry in particular, and has represented clients on full service, limited service, franchised, and brand managed hotel deals. He has also represented borrowers and lenders in a variety of secured transactions.

John gained experience working on complex commercial real estate transactions in Chicago before joining Allen Matkins. During law school, John served as a judicial extern for Judge Ruben Castillo of the Northern District of Illinois. John began his professional career as a Teach for America corps member teaching 7th grade English in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
