Spencer B. Kallick was quoted in an article that appeared in Finance & Commerce about Oregon's Governor contemplating whether to bring a law similar to California's "Builder's Remedy" to the state.
Such a rule would add to other housing policy tools the governor has enacted in Oregon, such as establishing a statewide housing production goal and requiring each city to produce a housing needs analysis.
Spencer was quoted several times, along with other experts, who said that the Builder's Remedy is not a panacea for fixing housing policy.
Spencer said, “The developers who are doing builder’s remedy projects are ones that deeply understand the intricacies of the law and have the commitment to see projects through because they see the need for new housing in the state."
