- Guide developers in crafting the “story” revealed by their pro formas
- Advise on the economics of redevelopment, including the calculation of available tax increments
- Work with agencies to maximize subsidies while minimizing the sometimes hidden costs (such as prevailing wage) that are attached as strings to such subsidies
- Structure deals that marry agency subsidies to other public financing mechanisms, such as Mello Roos bonds or certificates of participation financing, thereby maximizing the economic value of the subsidies
- Fashion and implement the political process for approval (this frequently dovetails with the land use entitlements approval process, and these efforts are seamlessly coordinated with the Allen Matkins land use team)
