David B. Stone

Partner

David is a partner based in our Los Angeles office.  His practice involves all aspects of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, sales, joint ventures, development, financing, and leasing. David represents investment companies, private equity funds, investment advisors, developers, life insurance companies, pension funds, banks, real estate investment trusts and other entities in connection with a wide variety of commercial real estate matters throughout the country.  David has extensive experience in the acquisition, disposition, financing, and development of commercial office portfolios, retail and industrial centers, hotels, and multifamily and mixed-use developments.  In addition, David regularly represents a broad range of clients, from large institutional investors to small family-owned companies, in connection with the leasing of various types of commercial properties.

David regularly speaks on expert panels for Bisnow, BOMA and RealShare, among others.  He has moderated the Projects and Markets Panel at Allen Matkins' annual View from the Top conference, and also has moderated the Capital Markets Panel at Allen Matkins' Capital Markets Roundtable at the ULI Fall Meeting.  In addition, David has guest lectured at the University of Southern California's Graduate School of Real Estate Development.

David is a member of the American Bar Association, the California Lawyers Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Urban Land Institute and BOMA.  He has served in various leadership roles within the Urban Land Institute and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.

  • Private equity fund. Acquisition and financing of a newly constructed industrial project in Torrance, California for approximately $170 million.
  • Developer. Acquisition of a non-performing loan secured by a mall in Pasadena, California for $103 million.
  • Investment advisor. Sale of a $147 million multi-family project in Sacramento, California.
  • Developer. Acquisition of the membership interests in an entity under a long-term purchase contract for an office building in Chicago, Illinois for $167 million.
  • Developer. Acquisition of the Los Angeles Times Campus in Los Angeles, California for approximately $105 million.
  • Hotel developer. Acquisition and financing of a ground leasehold interest (including the negotiation of a new ground lease) in an office building located adjacent to LAX, which office building was subsequently converted into a franchised hotel.
  • Private equity fund and development partner. Acquisition and financing of a portfolio of residential condominium units located in Las Vegas, Nevada for approximately $270 million.
  • Industrial REIT. Acquisition of a 1.3 million square foot industrial facility in Perris, California.
